Umi started TMDdesignLab with one goal in mind: Creating beautiful, practical designs.

Umi is a RIBA Chartered Architect. As a Director and Lead Design Architect in a Design Studio, Umi has been responsible for design and project management across multi-disciplinary and complex projects in Doha HQ and overseas branches covering architectural, interior architecture and engineering schemes, from project initiation through to construction supervision and completion, including the agreement of final accounts with the Client. As Design Studio Director, Umi was also the direct Line Manager for a team of 40 architectural and engineering designers.

From past experience as Design Manager, Art Director and Associate, Umi has been involved in the production of architectural designs at all stages from inception through to detailed design and subsequent supervision of site works. She has experience across a broad range of areas including Interior Architecture, Space and Art Design, as well as Visual Graphics for Corporate Marketing and Branding.
Umi has worked on high profile and award-winning projects. The World's Largest Grandstand of Meydan Race Course, Nad Al Sheba Dubai, UAE was launched in March 2010 and has received recognition from Guinness World Records. Umi was also the Lead Designer for other award winning projects, inlcuding Maldives Resort Chalets, Zhongtai Showroom Shanghai and Beijing in China, 3C4 Commercial Office in Putrajaya, BOH Visitor Centre, Kampachi Restaurant, Sage Restaurant and Avenue K in Malaysia. As the Main Lead Designer and Team Leader, she delivered the Conceptual and Detailed Design for the Qatar 2022 Al Thumama FIFA Compliant Stadium and Precinct for the Fifth Precinct tender bid, which won the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards 2018 in Cannes France.
Umi has been a lecturer for Curtin University off-shore programs in Limkokwing University for Architecture Design Workbase Studios and Building Technology, and she remains enthusiastic and pro-active in the professional development of others, as well as continuing to enhance her own professional ability.

Umi develops a strong interest in gastronomy and culinary aside from architecture and arts. She hopes to own her own thematic cafe and target to acquire Michelin Star/s one day.
